Mackintosh style dining chairs

When we received this pair of Mackintosh-style dining chairs, they were in urgent need of renovation. They were covered in paint-splatters, the seat of one was cracked, and of course the covers needed replacing. We rubbed down the frames and re-sprayed them black. The cracked wooden seat was replaced and new foam was applied to both chairs. The seats were then covered in a bold purple & black retro geometric pattern from Sunbury Design. It would have been very easy to select a ‘safer’ fabric, but the client was keen for something unusual which would stand out. The transformation is amazing and the result is a stunningly impactful pair of occasional chairs, ideal for brightening up a small space like a hallway. This project shows how a bold and adventurous choice of fabric can really pay dividends.

Parker Knoll fireside chair

This Parker Knoll PK720 wingback chair has been beautifully reupholstered in Sunbury ivory crushed velvet. At the client’s request, the technique used differed slightly from the norm, in that the inside back and wing panels were applied with the pile running ‘upside down’, to create a different kind of shading when the velvet catches the light.
